Callum Copley’s background is a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in graphic design.
His project for Unbinding The Book was initially inspired by watching a couple reading separate books to one another. Wondering whether or not the reading experience could be shared, he set out to redesign a short story by Edgar Allen Poe called The Man Of The Crowd. Designed to be read by two people simultaneously, the readers must exchange information in order to understand the narrative of the story. For example, whilst one viewer may be given one page of text, another may only have an image. All images are photographs by Copley, bringing the narrative into a more modern context, and one that relates directly to the artist himself.
